The Spring (or vernal) Equinox is just around the corner, where the days will get longer and the flowers will start to bloom. With this is mind, we delve into how you could further your enjoyment of this season and beyond!

The Stereotype is True!

When enjoying shrooms, it is common to be advised to go outside, to try and connect with nature. As well as helping you to have a pleasant trip, it seems this ‘tree hugging’ stereotype could have longer lasting positive effects. These include higher happiness ratings, lower anxiety levels and greater vitality. The study, conducted by The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, saw that these effects were still present even two years later!

Positive Feedback Loop

In fact, feelings of closeness to nature were reported to have actually increased after the 2 year period. This hints at a positive feedback loop effect. If users of psychedelics are enjoying spending time in nature, they will continue to do so, further increasing as well as maintaining the benefits!

And, as well as the psychological benefits, the physical ones of spending more time in nature are clear. A more active, outdoorsy lifestyle goes hand in hand with lower rates of cardiovascular disease, cholesterol, and overall health.

Hofmann loved nature too!

Albert Hofmann, known as the Father of LSD, was a great lover and advocator of nature! In fact, one of his main interests was LSD’s ability to create a feeling of oneness with the natural world. In his later years he also became a vocal supporter of environmental rights.

“Through my LSD experience and my new picture of reality, I became aware of the wonder of creation, the magnificence of nature and of the animal and plant kingdom”

(Hofmann, 1982)

Hofmann lived till the ripe old age of 102, so he must have been doing something right!

Celebrate the Spring Equinox with Nature!

Taking all this into account, why not start your journey into nature by celebrating the Spring Equinox? In many cultures, this is seen as the beginning of the triumph of light over darkness. The word ‘equinox’ itself comes from Latin, meaning ‘equal night’. After this, the days begin to lengthen and we can start to dream of summer!

Why not plant some seeds? Go on a walk? Listen to birdsong? In this time of new beginnings, why not refresh your relationship with the outdoors? Perhaps accompanied with some of nature’s own magic truffles.
